Ozone occurs naturally around crashing surf, white water rapids, and lightning storms. At ground level there is more oxygen than ozone, and as we rise up in our atmosphere the oxygen decreases and the ozone increases - hence, the beautiful blue sky we enjoy when we gaze up from planet Earth.
It is the ozone that makes it blue. Ozone is a chemical compound consisting of three oxygen atoms, an energetic form of normal atmospheric oxygen. It is made fresh in our clinic from medical grade oxygen passed through an elaborate apparatus called a cold corona arc resulting in medical grade ozone.
Oxygen/ozone therapy is a term that describes a number of different practices in which oxygen and ozone are administered via gas or water to kill disease microorganisms such as bacteria, viruses, fungus, and stealth organisms. Therefore, it improves cellular function and promotes the healing of damaged tissues.
It is normally applied via an IV protocol in which the blood is reacted with UVB light and then mixed with the oxygen/ozone mixture. This stimulates the movement of oxygen atoms from the bloodstream to the cells. Also, there is an increase in the production of powerful chemicals produced by our white blood cells called cytokines, a messenger that sets off a cascade of positive changes throughout the immune system, which is stimulated to resist diseases.
This means that the application of medical ozone is an extremely useful tool for immune activation in patients with a low immune status and/or immune deficiency. With higher levels of oxygen in the tissues, the pathogens are killed along with defective tissue cells. The healthy cells survive and multiply more rapidly, resulting in a stronger immune system. When administered, the body's own resistance is mobilized, meaning the ozone activates not only the immune system, but antioxidants and radical scavengers.
As a response to this activation, the body's immune cells produce special messengers called cytokines. Its ability to stimulate the circulation is used in the treatment of circulatory disorders and makes it valuable in revitalizing organic functions. Ozone reacts completely with specific substances making up the red and white blood cells, thereby activating their vital activities.
Ozone has been used since 1856 to disinfect operating rooms in European hospitals, and since 1860 to purify the water supplies of several large German cities. However, ozone was not used to treat patients until 1915, when a German doctor named Albert Wolff began to use it to treat skin diseases.
During World War I, the German Army used ozone to treat wounds and anaerobic infections. In the 1950s, several German physicians used ozone to treat cancer alongside mainstream therapeutic methods. It is estimated that as of the late 1990's, about 8,000 practitioners in Germany were using ozone in their practices.
This figure includes medical doctors as well as naturopaths and homeopaths. It was used in the US before the advent of antibiotics, which we all know have failed as the pathogens have become resistant, which can not happen with ozone therapy. The most intensive research in these therapies is presently being conducted in the former Soviet Union and in Cuba. As of 2000, the Office of Alternative Medicine of the National Institutes of Health has indicated interest in conducting clinical trials of oxygen/ozone therapies.

Ozone Therapy may be Administered in a Variety of Ways:
- Autohemotherapy:
10-15 mls of the patient's blood is removed, treated with a mixture of oxygen and ozone and reinjected into the patient.
- Intra-Articular Injection:
Ozone-treated water is injected into the patient's joints to treat arthritis, rheumatism and other joint diseases.
- Intramuscular Injection:
A mixture of oxygen and ozone is injected into the muscles of the buttocks.
- Ozonated Oil:
Ozone is bubbled through olive or safflower oil, forming a cream that is used to treat fungal infections, insect bites, acne, and skin problems.
- Ozonated Water:
Ozone is bubbled through water that is used to cleanse wounds, burns, and skin infections, or to treat the mouth after dental surgery.
- Ozone Bagging:
Ozone and oxygen are pumped into an airtight bag that surrounds the area to be treated, allowing the body tissues to absorb the mixture.
- Rectal Insufflations:
A mixture of oxygen and ozone is introduced into the rectum and absorbed through the intestines.

We use Oxygen/Ozone Therapies in conjunction with Heavy Metal Detox and the treatment of the residual pathogens in the blood, such as EBV, CMV, HHV6a, Mycoplasma, Chlamydia Pneumoniae and other debilitating (and stealthy) pathogens.
A clinical trial is also ongoing with regard to treating elevated PSAs in men.
