Nearly everyone is getting BOTOX® Cosmetic and Dysport injections for wrinkles these days. Very few treatments produce such impressive results with no healing time and minimal risk. BOTOX® Cosmetic and Dysport are used to treat "frown lines" which are sometimes called "scowl lines" or "worry lines". These are the lines seen between the eyes and on the bridge of the nose. In addition, the injections are used to get rid of "crow's feet" and forehead wrinkles. BOTOX® Cosmetic and Dysport can also be used to soften lip lines and 'bunny lines' on the nose. They can also help in treating migraine headaches, and can be used to decrease excess sweating of the palms and underarms. Many patients receive BOTOX® Cosmetic and Dysport injections on their lunch hour and return to work. This is truly a lunchtime procedure. The effects will start to show in 24-72 hours and typically lasts an average of 4 months.

Injectable Fillers

Wrinkles are usually connected to aging, but many other factors contribute as well; including sun exposure, pollution, smoking, health, lifestyle and heredity.

Injectable fillers such as Juvederm, Radiesse, Perlane or fat can be used to lift lines and sculpt the face. They can improve or reduce the appearance of creases, wrinkles, scars, under-eye depressions, and can also be used to build up cheeks and chins, lift brows, and define and enlarge lips.

Most treatments usually take less than 30 minutes. Some injectables will require multiple treatments that are spaced out over several weeks. A local anesthetic, or numbing agent, is frequently administered for comfort.

Results are immediate. Side effects tend to be minimal. Bruising, swelling and redness may occur but typically fade within one to two days. Normal activities, including work, can usually be resumed right away.

The results and longevity of injections will vary for each individual. Some patients have reported their treatment lasting a year or longer. Others have reported duration of only 3-6 months.
