About the Staff and the Clinic
The Staff
Gary had the idea over 14 years ago to develop one of the finest and most progressive medical clinics in the Southwest. Working with thousands of highly progressive, alternative MD's, DO's, ND's and DDS's, he and his staff of compounding pharmacists at ApothéCure have helped develop some of the best and most progressive treatments for many chronic illnesses. Gary is a graduate of Ohio State University and is a Certified Clinical Nutritionist. Functional lab tests, custom compounded pharmaceuticals and nutrients take center stage at TIFM.
Every patient is treated as having an individual biochemistry, and therefore the treatment protocols are uniquely individualized per patient. Our treatments are matched to the patient, not the other way around! He deals with physicians all over the world and always has the latest in global protocols. Gary has been involved in functional therapies for over 42 years and is well-known for his excellence — not only in the compounding field, but also with thousands of physicians who rely on him for his expertise as well.
Dr. Light is a fellow of the prestigious American Academy of Cosmetic Surgery (AACS) and is active with the Texas Cosmetic Surgical Society and the American Academy of Anti-Aging Medicine (A4M). He recently received his MBA from the University of Texas at Austin.
Dr. Light is an expert in his field with extensive surgical experience. He practiced internationally as an accomplished, board certified general and trauma surgeon with the US Air Force for 8 years. As a flight surgeon he flew several missions in F-15 and F-16 fighter aircraft. He was one of the first medical teams placed in Saudi Arabia during Operation Desert Storm and has received two Air Force Commendation Medals. Upon his return to 'civilian life', Dr. Light trained in Aesthetic Surgery and now focuses his practice exclusively on cosmetic surgery and anti-aging medicine.
Dr. Light is a progressive thinker and is innovative in his application of the latest developments and procedures. He has four children and is an avid snow skier, private pilot, travel enthusiast, and also enjoys biking and hiking with his family. We look forward to all of our patients benefiting from his unique experience and expertise.

The Clinic
Functional Medicine is the knowledge of how the human body functions, and listening to the patient. I find from listening to our patients that today's physicians do not know this, but tend to treat symptoms. This is OK too, but only if you want to continue taking pills the rest of your life. Our medical staff is very knowledgeable in the area of biochemistry, and therefore understands the "nature of the beast" better than traditional medicine does.
Utilizing "proper" lab work to determine what is broken in the body is our philosophy. We utilize the talents of many laboratories around the country, and are often involved in the design of new lab tests to help uncover broken links in the bodies biochemistry, what causes it, AND what fixes it. We use the best parts of all medicine to achieve the goal of health!
Many of our new callers think we use only herbs and vitamins and whatever else is popular in "alternative medicine" today. We use them, but only after determining, through appropriate laboratory tests, the proper supplements. We also use IV's, pharmaceuticals, psychology (with an understanding of Chinese medicine, acupuncture, etc). We explore every new therapy coming down the pike, but tear it apart to see if it is a valid therapy and not simply "new".
We constantly develop new treatment protocols using outcome-based analysis (e.g. does the patient feel better?), results of lab tests, staying in constant contact with the research leaders of the industry, attending several industry seminars per year, and designing several clinical trials. We currently have several other physician's offices across the country call us for our protocols.
We take time with our patients. We explain when things aren't clear initially. And most importantly of all, we listen!
Bottom Line: Functional Medicine is Smart Medicine — It just makes sense!

Diagnostic Equipment
We use the latest and most advanced diagnostic equipment available. Our Thermal Imaging unit offers the best in live-time technology. We even have electrodermal screening equipment that is the newest and most accurate in the country.
TIFM also enjoys a unique and beneficial relationship with RHD Memorial Hospital, located just a few blocks away, which allows access to equipment that we may not have on-premises at the clinic..
In addition, we have a strong relationship with Baylor Hospital in Downtown Dallas which allows us the use of their Breast MRI, the only one in the city, to ensure that all of our patients receive treatment from the most advanced technologies available.
